Mothers Invited to Share Their Time & Experiences the “Day After”

Mothers & More to conduct online survey May 9 as part of Mother’s Day Campaign

Mothers & More, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of mothers, will be conducting a national Day After Mother's Day virtual event—a live, public, online survey—on Monday, May 9 at their website. This event is part of the organization’s 2005 Mother’s Day Campaign, “Mothers - The Real Story: It’s About Time.”

All mothers are invited to visit the website on May 9 to take a short survey, one or more times throughout the day, in order to log how they are spending their time and to share how they feel about their time and activities compared to the day before, Mother’s Day. Results will be available for public viewing live on the website throughout the day for all to read and share. The final results will then be summarized and posted on the website by the end of the week.

Simultaneously, the Day After will be discussed on the Mothers & More POWER Loop—a members-only online discussion forum that explores motherhood and society—by Mothers & More members, invited journalists and several prominent authors the week of May 9. Guest authors include:

  • Phyllis Moen, It’s About Time: Couples and Careers, Women's Two Roles,
  • Anna Fels, Necessary Dreams: Ambition in Women’s Changing Lives,
  • Judith Warner, Perfect Madness: Motherhood in the Age of Anxiety,
  • Miriam Peskowitz, The Truth Behind the Mommy Wars: Who Decides What Makes a Good Mother and
  • Joni B. Cole and B.K. Rakhra,This Day in the Life.

The Mother’s Day Campaign, “Mothers - The Real Story: It’s About Time,” encourages mothers to talk with each other about the real ups and downs of motherhood and shine a bright light on the unacknowledged facts that care takes time, has value and presents challenges for those who take responsibility to provide it. Activities like this help show the unique ways different mothers approach this challenge.
