Our Actions

Mothers & More champions the value and necessity of all mothers' work to our society - paid and unpaid, within and outside of the home. We strive to raise awareness about the fact that mothers live and work in a society that presents significant barriers to their ability to succeed as women, citizens, parents or participants in the workforce. By uniting mothers to act on their own behalf, we seek to eliminate policies, practices and attitudes that unfairly impact mothers as caregivers.

Mother’s Day Campaigns

Every Mother’s Day, Mothers & More conducts a Campaign to raise awareness about the issues that affect mothers.

Community Outreach

Mothers & More chapters are part of their communities, making a difference.  From helping mothers who are struggling to advocating for legislation that positively impacts all mothers, our chapters work to further our mission and beliefs.  These efforts include:

The Apple Awards

“Apple of our Eye” Awards

The purpose of the Apple of our Eye Award is to call attention to acts that honor the importance of caregiving work and respect mothers’ individuality and right to make their own decisions about how to care for themselves and their families.

April 2006:  Diane Sawyer and Good Morning America earned the award with their episode titled “Mothers Make It Work.”
July 2005: The first “Apple of Our Eye” Award went to actress Brooke Shields for speaking out publicly about her personal struggles with postpartum depression, and defending every mother’s right to decide for herself how best to take care of herself and her family.

The POWER Plan

The POWER Plan details the ways in which Mothers & More wants to realize our organization’s mission and beliefs and make them visible to society as a whole.   This plan reflects our goal of reorganizing and redefining work such that the work of caring for others is seen and treated as equal in value to paid work.  Our choices are based on our mission and beliefs, strong member support, and our ability to uniquely influence these areas.
